1. Agreement to these terms

This site is operated by Jose Miguel Rodrigues ("we", "us"). By using the site, requesting the free starter phrases, or buying the guide, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the site.

You must be at least 16 years old, or have a parent or guardian's permission, to give us your email address.

2. The free starter phrases

The starter phrases are free, with no purchase required and no card details asked for. In exchange for them you agree to receive:

  • the email containing the phrases, and
  • a short series of follow-up emails about the full guide.

Every one of those emails carries an unsubscribe link that works on the first click. Unsubscribing costs you nothing and does not take the free phrases away.

We may change what the free sample contains, or stop offering it, at any time. That does not affect anything already sent to you.

Brazilian Portuguese for Travelers is a nine-module digital guide delivered as a PDF. It is sold for US$ 19.90 through Payhip, whose own terms apply to the payment itself.

Delivery is immediate and digital: you receive a download link on the confirmation page and by email. There is nothing to ship. If the link does not reach you within one hour, email us and we will send the file directly.

Prices may change at any time. The price you paid is the price that applies to your order.

4. What you may and may not do with it

When you buy the guide you get a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use it. You own your copy; you do not own the work.

You may: read it on any device you own, print a copy for your own use, and quote a short passage with credit.

You may not: resell, sublicense, rent or redistribute the file; upload it to a file-sharing site, group chat or course platform; use it as teaching material for paying students without a licence from us; or republish substantial parts of it, translated or otherwise, under your own name.

All text, illustrations, layout and the compass mark are our intellectual property or used with permission, and remain so.

5. Refunds

We offer a 7-day refund on the paid guide. Write to us within that window, tell us it did not work for you, and we refund in full to the original payment method. You do not have to justify the request, and you may keep the file — chasing a PDF is nobody's idea of a good afternoon.

If you are a consumer in the EU or the UK, you normally have a 14-day right to withdraw from a distance purchase. Because this is digital content delivered immediately, you are asked at checkout to agree that delivery starts at once and that you therefore lose that statutory right. The voluntary refund above applies regardless.

Refunds on repeated or clearly abusive requests may be declined.

6. Emails

We send only what you signed up for: the free phrases, follow-ups about the guide, and occasional travel-language tips. We do not sell or rent your address to anyone. See the Privacy Policy for the full detail.

7. No guarantee of fluency — and a safety note

The guide is educational material. It will not make you fluent, and we do not promise any specific outcome: how much you can say when you land depends on you.

Pronunciations are written to be read by English speakers, not as a phonetic standard. Regional accents vary widely across Brazil, and a phrase that lands perfectly in Rio may raise an eyebrow in Salvador. That is part of the fun.

In an emergency, do not rely on a phrasebook. Module 08 covers emergency vocabulary, but it is not a substitute for a professional interpreter, your embassy or consulate, travel insurance, or the local emergency services — in Brazil, 190 for police, 192 for ambulance, 193 for the fire service. Nothing here is medical, legal, immigration or travel-safety advice.

8. Availability of the site

We try to keep the site up and the forms working, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. Maintenance, host outages and acts of the internet happen. If the signup form fails when you try it, email us and we will send the phrases by hand.

9. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, our total liability arising from the guide, the free sample or this site is limited to the amount you actually paid us — which, for the free sample, is nothing. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including missed connections, misunderstandings, or an unexpected order of tripe.

Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any other liability that cannot legally be limited. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.

The site and the guide may link to other websites, apps and services. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content, their prices or their privacy practices.

11. Changes

We may update these terms. The version in force is the one published here on the day you use the site or place an order, and the date at the top tells you when it last changed.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Brazil, and disputes go to the competent courts of Brazil. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory consumer law of the country where you live.
